About Us

About us

Discount Home Warehouse is the Souths' premier spot since 1994 for unique architectural salvage and reclaimed building materials.

DHW was established to re-purpose the re-useable building materials and unique architectural pieces recovered from the vast number of homes being demolished or extensively remodeled in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Now this valuable salvage is integrated into new building or design projects rather than headed to overflowing landfills.

The need for salvage and used building materials is now a trend that few can resist.

DHW is more than a place to find that rare or unique piece – it’s an opportunity to buy high-end materials at low-end prices. You’ll find character and craftsmanship while staying on budget.  If you’re building out or building in, DHW has it all – from bath fixtures and cabinetry to mantels, hardwood flooring and moldings to lighting, windows, doors and more.

Meet the owner

Spurred by a passion for recycling and reclamation, Discount Home Warehouse was founded in 1994 by Tom Hirosky with the goal of preserving our community's architectural heritage by saving materials that would otherwise be headed to the landfill.

Tom's enthusiasm for architectural salvage and the environment has not waned after more than twenty years in the Dallas/Ft. Worth market.

Tom utilized his previous retail expertise to make the 30,000+ square foot warehouse and architectural yard shopping friendly. Discount Home Warehouse is not the typical salvage or junk yards most are accustomed. Customers do not have to dig through grungy, dirty spaces in order to find the right piece to add character to a home because merchandise is organized by departments and items are tagged.

One area is dedicated to plantation shutters while doors and hardwood flooring are housed in another section. Vast stock includes kitchen cabinets, claw-foot tubs, copper sinks, mantels, lighting, ceiling tiles, and hardware plus a 10,000 square foot outdoor area with wrought iron gates and fencing, garden statuaries, and urns.

Tom and his highly trained, friendly staff members also offer design expertise and advice on projects free of charge. They love working with salvage and helping customers find inspiration!

Yes, we have many builders and contractors as regular customers — we are happy to work with anyone.

We don’t ship – but we can help you to make your own shipping arrangements with a packing/shipping company.

18. What if you don’t have what I’m looking for?
Chances are we will get it in — eventually. That is why we keep a wish list of our customer needs & wants. When that item comes in, we’ll call you.
