Welcome to class!
This week I want to ask you a very important question:
In your home, which room do you spend the most time in?
I’m betting most of you would say your kitchen. It’s the hub of family life, isn’t it? You cook meals for your family, serve snacks to your kiddos, entertain out of town guests, host dinner parties – you do it all!
Well, because you are spending so much time in this special room, why not make it functional AND beautiful to look at – while staying in your budget?
There are so many ways to use salvage in your kitchen! Have you decorated the tops of your cabinets? This is always a tough one. Keep it simple – less is more. Big pieces look great – try some Italian or Mexican pottery, a salvaged iron church doorbell cover, or an old hand-painted wood flower box.
Appliances. How many times have you stared at that old white oven and wondered when in the world you’ll be able to replace it with something new? Did you know you can find salvaged high-end appliances – at our store for a fraction of the cost of new ones?
And what about all of those little “touches” that make your kitchen yours? The unique items you find along the way and aren’t sure how to use ? What about a salvaged vintage rooster weathervane? Doesn’t it look great over this pantry door from the 1800’s?
And speaking of pantry doors, replacing the builder’s grade pantry door with one like this is a great way to “tell a story” in your kitchen!
Items like this 1950’s Falstaff beer tray look great in a kitchen or bar – try using old food and beverage advertising pieces like these to add character!
We all want homes that are comfortable and inviting and make our guests feel welcome. The kitchen is the heart of the home – and you don’t have to break the bank to fill it with timeless pieces that “tell your story”.
See you next time!
